Help us keep the doors open

At A Healing Path, we believe healing does not always have to happen sitting across from someone in an office.

Sometimes it happens beside a horse.

Sometimes it happens when a child who has struggled to trust learns that a 1,000-pound animal will respond when they become calm, clear and connected.

Sometimes it happens when a veteran realizes their body can move out of high alert.

Sometimes it happens when a family begins learning how to slow down, listen differently and reconnect.

And sometimes, someone simply needs a safe place to belong.

That is why we partner with King’s Ranch Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to help make these experiences available to individuals and families in our rural communities.

Why Horses?

Horses are incredibly aware of what is happening around them.

As prey animals, they pay attention to movement, energy, body language, pressure, safety and connection. They respond to what is happening in the moment.

That makes working with a horse very different from simply talking about a problem.

A person can begin to experience concepts such as:

  • slowing their body down

  • recognizing when they are becoming overwhelmed

  • setting healthy boundaries

  • communicating clearly

  • building trust

  • developing confidence

  • practicing patience

  • noticing how their behavior affects another living being

  • reconnecting after something does not go as planned

The horse does not judge someone's past, diagnosis, income, mistakes or circumstances.

The horse responds to what is happening right now.

That creates opportunities for people to practice new patterns in a safe, experiential environment.

Research into equine-assisted services has also found promising benefits in areas including emotional regulation, confidence, social connection and psychological well-being.

More Than Riding a Horse

Our work at King’s Ranch is not simply horseback riding.

Some of the most meaningful moments happen with both feet on the ground.

Participants may groom a horse, lead through an obstacle, learn to communicate without force, notice a horse's body language, practice boundaries, complete activities together or simply spend quiet time beside an animal.

We use these experiences to help people understand something we teach throughout A Healing Path:

  • Your body's reaction is information—not your identity.

  • When we learn to recognize what our nervous system is doing, we have a better opportunity to choose what happens next.

  • The ranch gives people a place to practice that.

Who do we serve?

King’s Ranch Foundation exists to increase access for people who can benefit from these experiences, including:

Children and teens
Learning confidence, emotional regulation, healthy boundaries, responsibility and connection.

Families
Practicing communication, trust, reflective listening and healthier relationship patterns.

Veterans
Providing opportunities for connection, regulation, purpose, resilience and community.

Individuals with disabilities or additional support needs
Creating opportunities for adaptive horsemanship, participation, confidence and meaningful connection with horses.

Individuals experiencing stress, trauma or difficult life transitions
Providing experiential opportunities to practice safety, awareness, trust and connection.

Our rural community
Bringing services close to home for families who often have fewer resources available to them.

Why We Need Your help

Equine programs are wonderful—but they are expensive to provide.

Our horses need feed, hay, veterinary care, farrier services, tack, fencing, shelter and safe facilities.

Programs also require trained staff and people who can safely facilitate the experience.

We never want finances to be the reason someone who could benefit from the ranch cannot participate.

That is where King’s Ranch Foundation—and people like you—come in.

Your support can help us provide scholarships and reduced-cost programming while also caring for the horses and facilities that make this work possible.

Your Gift Helps Provide

Donations to King’s Ranch Foundation can help support:

  • Equine experiences for children and families

  • Veteran programming

  • Adaptive horsemanship

  • Scholarships for individuals with financial barriers

  • Horse feed, hay and routine care

  • Veterinary and farrier expenses

  • Safe tack and adaptive equipment

  • Program staff and equine facilitators

  • Improvements to our ranch and facilities

  • Educational and regulation-focused programs

  • Expansion of programs for rural Oklahoma and surrounding communities

Every gift matters.

A smaller gift may help purchase supplies or contribute toward the care of a horse.

A larger gift may help provide several equine sessions, support a participant through a program, purchase needed equipment or help us expand what is available at the ranch.

You don't have to fund the whole mission to become part of it.

You can simply help us keep the gate open for the next person who needs it.

Other Ways You Can Help

Financial gifts aren't the only way to support King’s Ranch Foundation.

You can:

Sponsor a participant.
Help cover the cost of equine programming for someone who otherwise may not be able to participate.

Sponsor a horse.
Help with the ongoing care of one of the horses who makes this work possible.

Donate supplies or materials.
Feed, building materials, equipment and ranch supplies all help us stretch donated dollars further.

Become a community or corporate partner.
Businesses, churches, civic organizations and community groups can sponsor programs, projects, participants or special events.

Share our mission.
Sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is simply help someone else discover that King's Ranch exists.

Help us Keep the Gates Open

King’s Ranch Foundation is growing because we see the need every week.

Children need places where they can feel successful.

Families need opportunities to reconnect.

Veterans need community and meaningful ways to engage.

People need spaces where they can slow down enough to recognize what their bodies are telling them.

And sometimes a horse can help create an opening that words alone could not.

Your donation helps make that possible.
